PTP started life in the early 1990’s as Universal Vehicle Contracts
Ltd, providing a logistical service to Rover Group’s Power Train
Division. In 1995 UVC Ltd signed an exclusive contract to supply
existing Rover Group OE customers, and to develop this business both in
the UK and overseas with power train major units, engines,
transmissions, gearboxes, axles and associated components, materials
and fitting kits. Power Train Projects – or PTP as we are now known,
was born.
Projects along the way
By 2000 PTP were
supplying over 3000 major units to such significant customers as Lotus,
Morgan, TVR, Caterham, Westfield, Rover sport and a host of other
manufacturers – mainly, but not exclusively, in the OE automotive
sector. Their capabilities have over this period been expanded and
enhanced and they now undertake original engineering and product
development, design and manufacturing activities from their site in
Hinckley, as well as developing their substantial Performance business.
The range of projects they have worked on are numerous, here are some
examples that you may recognise:
Partnerships
As well as extending their own skills range and expertise, they have
always recognised the value of creating partnerships with suppliers to
ensure their ‘quality first’ philosophy was underpinned. Close and
productive associations have been established over the years with
reputable organisations such as ITG, Janspeed, Titan Motorsport, John
Wilcox Competition Engines, Zeus and Dover Corporation.
All this has enabled them to deliver robust and reliable product
through planned design and development stages with exhaustive
validation and testing disciplines. Usually these later stages have
included using race circuits and race drivers, adding ‘real world’
testing to virtual and simulated regimes.
Engineering workshop
They also have a busy state of the art engineering workshop, which is
used for Performance upgrade installation, predominantly for Lotus
Elise, Caterham and MG Rover cars, servicing, MOT's and prototyping. They are also LPGA approved gas installers for Prins VSI and Nicholson
Mclaren AG Autogas Systems, which is an ever increasing part of their business. These systems are fitted to a wide range of vehicles.
Dedication and Quality
Their team are dedicated to continuous improvement and growth to
support our growing client base. Evolution of product, and meeting and
exceeding their customers expectations are the key element to the success
and growth of the company and will continue to be so.
They operate a Quality Management System which meets the requirements of
ISO 9001:2000.
