Mazda5 Overview

Mazda’s stylish C-MAV (Compact-Multi Activity Vehicle) model, the Mazda5 offers customers an eight-strong model range with a choice of four powertrains and four equipment levels, priced from £14,350 to £19,600 on-the-road. All eight feature a regular six-seat layout – with the flexibility of a stowable seventh seat - which focuses on the interior’s central space to promote good communication between all occupants.

Thanks to Mazda’s innovative karakuri seating system this central space can be easily re-arranged to make room for up to seven. With class-leading twin sliding rear doors, genuine Mazda driving fun and a stylish design, the new Mazda5 introduces fresh Zoom-Zoom attributes to an increasingly popular segment of the UK market. The Mazda5 is proving immensely popular, with sales of 2,847 units in the first seven months of 2006, claiming a 2.7 per cent share of the Compact MPV segment and selling more than 4,400 units since launch.

Mazda is offering a highly competitive equipment list with manual air-conditioning, a single CD audio system, electric front windows and electric/heated door mirrors, plus Thatcham Category 1 alarm fitted as standard on all models. Customers purchasing the TS2 trim level will benefit from foldaway picnic tables, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, roof rails and a leather rimmed steering wheel as part of the package.

A DVD entertainment system for the rear seats is an available option from £979.95. This system features an 8-inch colour widescreen display mounted on the ceiling ahead of the second row seats. The DVD player comes with a remote control and the choice of either wired, or wireless infra-red headphones. The screen can be swivelled left or right and has three alternative tilt positions for optimum viewing. The system also has an AV output source allowing games consoles to be played.

Those customers purchasing top of the range Sport models will enjoy Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and a Traction Control System (TCS) as standard, as well as the comfort and convenience of a six-CD autochanger and climate control air-conditioning, coupled with stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, dark tinted privacy glass and a rear spoiler to enhance the exterior look.

The Mazda Sport Nav model adds the convenience of DVD Satellite Navigation and a rear parking camera meaning that both getting lost and awkward parking can be things of the past. Furano Special Editions For a limited period, Mazda is offering customers two special editions of the Mazda5. The Mazda5 Furano builds on the Mazda5 Sport to offer even more fun behind the wheel – delivering such exhilarating pleasure that Furano owners will give up flying and drive their family to European holidays.

Each Furano features a front sports bumper, two-bar front grille, side skirts, rear underskirt and clear tail light lenses. Outside, there is free metallic or mica paint, tinted privacy glass and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, owners can enjoy black trim, electric windows, front and rear, a 6-CD autochanger and climate control air-conditioning.

Available in two unique exterior colours, Stellar Silver and Strato Blue, the Furano comes in a choice of two versions. The Mazda5 2.0 Furano is powered by 145ps petrol engine with a fivespeed manual transmission and costs £16,995 (on-the-road). The Mazda5 2.0-litre Diesel Furano has a 143ps diesel engine, a six-speed manual gearbox and costs £18,595. Just 700 Furano models will be produced, so an element of exclusivity is guaranteed.

Design – Stylish and Clean
Mazda5 has a sleek, sweeping, wedge-shaped exterior with sophisticated detailing, minimal panel gaps and high build quality for a stylish and clean appearance and efficient aerodynamics. The twin sliding rear doors are designed for easy operation by an adult using only one hand. These doors hug the sides of the vehicle when open and create a 700mm wide opening for easy entry and exit – even for third row passengers. Mazda5’s lightweight tailgate is also designed to deliver superior convenience with a two-stage opening mechanism so that people of all heights to can operate it with ease.
