Overview

The award-winning Getz is Hyundai’s best-selling car in the UK and the rest of Europe.  And its buyer appeal is now set to rise even higher with the introduction of a new-look version, with fresh styling for a more distinct European look.

Equipment levels have also been upgraded in an even stronger package of safety, comfort and convenience. From the outside, the new Getz has a sportier appearance, characterised by a stronger and more unified front end treatment. The development of the styling is aimed at appealing to younger drivers and conforming more closely to modern European tastes.

As well as fresh new looks, the Getz receives new and revised engines, all of which meet the forthcoming Euro IV emissions standards.  The most significant is an all new 1.5 CRTD common rail direct injection diesel unit with variable geometry turbocharger (VGT), available with either 88 PS (87 bhp) or 110 PS (109 bhp).

The 110 PS (109 bhp) diesel unit is found in the new range-topping 1.5 CRTD CDX+ three-door model, a car that adds extra sports style to the Getz range. It features a rear spoiler with integral brake light, front and rear mudflaps, leather trim for the steering wheel and gearshift and a metallic effect finish to the centre console.

There is a new 1.4 litre petrol engine with variable valve timing for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency, and a revised 1.1 litre four-cylinder petrol unit. The launch of the Getz supermini in 2002 was a major step forward in Hyundai’s strategy to build a stronger market presence in Europe, taking the company into a market segment that accounts for around 26 per cent of total new car sales in Europe. Getz has already proved it has the qualities to succeed. To coincide with its UK launch, the Getz was named What Car? Budget Car of the Year and has been a key model in bringing new customers to the brand.
