NEW
EXTERIOR DESIGN AND STYLING
- Extensive
exterior restyling crystallises Getz’s European character
- New
front end design with cleaner, more sporty appearance
- New
wheel cover and alloy wheel designs
- New
paint colours to choose from
The
front end of the car has been given a fully integrated treatment with a
redesigned bonnet and even stronger character lines that add visual emphasis to
the grille, headlights and front bumper section. The
wrap-around clear glass headlamps, black bumper inserts and front spoiler with
neatly integrated fog lights (CDX models) give a clean and sporty appearance.
This effect is further enhanced in subtle details such as the neater
arrangement of the wipers and the way in which the bonnet character lines flow
towards the A pillars.
From
the side, a strong shoulder line that rises unbroken from the headlamps to the
rear lamp cluster unifies the complete structure of the car. Prominent black
side mouldings add to the expression of strength and stability. New alloy wheel
and wheel cover designs have been introduced, which further emphasise the
Getz’s dynamic styling and well-balanced overall proportions.
The
rear features a neater bumper section with a black moulded insert that wraps
around the vehicle below the level of the light units. The rear fog light is
repositioned in the centre of the back bumper. The
new-look Getz is also available in three new colours – metallic Sky Blue and
Space Silver and Midnight Grey mica. Other colour choices include solid Hip Hop
Red and Ebony Black.
INTERIOR
CHANGES
Inside,
the instrument panel has been redesigned and is even easier to read, thanks to
the use of LED colour graphics. And the revised and repositioned instrument
cluster incorporates a trip computer (CDX models only), fuel and temperature
gauges and ancillary warning lights.
The
centre console contains a new digital clock, a more prominent hazard warning
lights control and a repositioned cigar lighter. On the 1.5 CRTD CDX+ model the
centre console has a silver metallic grain effect finish. For added comfort, meanwhile, the rear headrests have been
redesigned for easy adjustment and even better rearward vision.
Right
from the time of its launch, the Getz won high praise for the versatility of
its interior and its great range of storage spaces. Now there are 20 storage
points, thoughtfully designed to accommodate a wide range of everyday objects.
To
name a few, the new Getz has a new centre console tray with extra space for
small items and a light has been added to the glovebox. Map pockets on the
doors have been redesigned for easier use and smarter appearance. Elsewhere
there is a tray beneath the passenger seat, seat back pockets, handy bag hooks
and CDX models have a sunglasses holder.
Achieving
a comfortable driving position is made simple with a height adjustable steering
column and, on CDX models, height adjustment for the driver’s seat. Flexibility
is built-in to cope with different space demands for passengers or luggage with
rear seats that split-fold 60/40. With both rear seats folded down, the usable
load space grows to a cavernous 977 litres, placing the Getz among the leaders
in its class.
NEW
ENGINE RANGE
- Introduction
of new 1.5 litre CRTD diesel engine, available with 88 PS (87 bhp) or 110 PS (109 bhp)
- 110
PS diesel capable of up to than 600 miles on a single tank of fuel
- Revised
1.1 and new 1.4 litre petrol engines also available, 1.4 with option of
automatic transmission
- All
power units meet Euro IV emissions standards
As
ever-increasing numbers of motorists opt for diesel power to reap the benefits
of good fuel economy and lower carbon dioxide emissions, Hyundai’s new 1.5
litre CRTD engine will play a pivotal role in the Getz range.
Designed
and developed with major input from Hyundai’s European research and development
centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, it is a state-of-the-art unit, with performance
further enhanced by a new five-speed manual transmission with a revised shift
for even smoother gear changes.
It
is available with the choice of two power outputs: 88 PS (87 bhp) at 4,000 rpm
with maximum torque of 159 lbs ft (215 Nm) available between 1,900 and 2,500 rpm;
and 110 PS (109 bhp) at 4,000 rpm, with 174 lbs ft (235 Nm) of torque from
1,900 to 2,750 rpm.
The
110 PS unit enables the Getz to cover the 0-60 dash in just 11.1 seconds and
reach a top speed of 112 mph.
With
official Combined Cycle fuel consumption in excess of 60 mpg (62.8 mpg
for the 88 PS unit and 62.8 for the 110 PS) and a fuel tank capacity of
45 litres, both
CRTD Getz models have a potential range of around 600 miles on a single
tank.
A
new 97 PS (96 bhp) 1.4 litre 16-valve four-cylinder petrol engine has replaced
the previous 1.3 litre unit. Equipped with continuous variable valve timing
(CVVT) that helps ensure high fuel efficiency at all engine speeds and smooth
power delivery, it is available with five-speed manual or four-speed automatic
transmission.
The intelligent four-speed automatic transmission has been
developed specifically for the new Getz. High top gear ratios reduce fuel
consumption when cruising, while sensors constantly monitor engine speeds and
driver demands and adapt the transmission to suit individual driving styles.
The
ever-popular entry level engine, meanwhile, a triple-valve four cylinder 1.1
litre petrol unit that produces 67 PS (66 bhp), remains exceptionally frugal,
returning 51.4 mpg in official Combined Cycle driving, while having been
revised to meet Euro IV emissions standards.
SAFETY
- Airbags
and seatbelt pretensioners
- Improved
rear head restraints
- Upgraded
side impact protection
From
its earliest design stages, the Getz was engineered to offer excellent
passenger and pedestrian crash protection. Following established Hyundai
practice, extensive computer simulations and prototype testing were undertaken
to help shape a robust basic structure with great rigidity (high tensile steel
accounts for 58.3 per cent of the car’s weight). In
the new Getz occupant protection has been increased through strengthening of
the dual-height, high-efficiency side impact bars.
Since
launch, Getz has provided a strong active safety package. The positive rack and
pinion steering and MacPherson strut front suspension contribute to secure
handling, and four-channel ABS with electronic brake force distribution (EBD)
is standard on all versions of the car.
