Trinity Mazda staff are celebrating being ranked among the top ten fastest competitors in their age group in the 2009 Mazda Blenheim Triathlon. Managing director Richard Nikolic, owner Lisa Nikolic and international sales manager Tim Henderson represented the Hinckley dealership in the swim-bike-run event at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire last weekend (6 and 7 June).
Husband and wife team Richard and Lisa completed the Super Sprint distance race, which consists of a 400m swim, 10km cycle and 2.5km run, while Tim tackled the Sprint race, which is double the distance. Lisa crossed the finish line in 1.03hrs, coming second in her age group (40-44) and 13th female overall, while Richard finished in 1.08hrs, placing him 10th in his age group (45-49) and 104th male overall.
Tim completed the Sprint race in 1.29hrs. Rankings for this race have yet to be announced.
“Blenheim was our first triathlon but it definitely won’t be our last,” comments Richard. “It was such a great atmosphere and, even though it was raining, there was a great turnout of spectators cheering us on, which really helps when you start to get tired. It was an amazing feeling crossing the finish line and we’re all thrilled with our times. I’ll definitely be back again next year.”

The Mazda Blenheim Triathlon is held in the picturesque grounds of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire and this year attracted more than 4,000 competitors. It is the UK’s second largest triathlon to the Mazda London Triathlon and each year raises more than Ł500,000 for various charities.
