For Mazda Motors UK, 2008 was its second best year on record for total sales and its best ever market share, despite the difficult trading conditions.  In December, the company also overtook Nissan to become the third best-selling Japanese brand behind Toyota and Honda for the second time in 2008.

Drivers in Hinckley will soon be able to review and purchase the new Mazda6 2.2-litre diesel from just £15,869 on the road.  The new line-up is due to arrive in the Coventry Road showroom in January and features a MZR-CD 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine in three power outputs and an additional diesel hatchback model as well as minor specification upgrades.  These new editions expand the award-winning Mazda6 range to 26 models.

Companies in Leicestershire and Warwickshire that choose to run low emission company cars stand to benefit from significant new tax breaks, which are being introduced this year.

Changes to capital allowances for company cars mean that from 1 April 2009 they will be based on carbon dioxide emissions and will reward companies for running vehicles that emit 160g/km of CO2 or less.

Mazda is perfectly placed to help companies meet this challenge, with more than 40 individual model variants producing less than the 160g/km benchmark from its Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda5 and Mazda6 ranges.

When the expanded 26-strong line-up of 2009 new Mazda6 models goes on sale in January, prices will start at just £14,891 (OTR).  Mazda is taking the opportunity presented by the arrival of its all-new MZR-CD 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, with a choice of three power outputs, to also introduce some specification upgrades and one additional diesel model – offering both the low power (125ps) and mid power (163ps) engines in the TS hatchback.
Among the specification upgrades is a new standard equipment feature on 15 models from the £17,563 TS2 upwards – Mazda's lane-change ‘Rear Vehicle Monitoring System'.  This innovation will be a significant boost to safer driving.  Fully automatic, the new active safety feature employs two rear-facing radar units that detect and warn the driver of an approaching vehicle before he/she has a chance to move across into a busy lane by mistake.

Surfing may be the last activity anyone feels like now we are in autumn but with half term upon us it is the perfect time to hit the beach. The wetsuit will keep you warm, beaches will be empty, and the kids will get some fresh air.

In fact for Sarah Whiteley it's the perfect time of year for the coast as she runs Walking on Waves surf school at Saunton Beach, North Devon. This season is ideal for teaching people to surf, she says. “Not only are the beaches quiet but so is the sea, meaning you don't have to worry about bumping into swimmers, body-boarders or other surfers.”
