Introduced in 2006, the Mazda BT-50 injected fresh customer benefits into Mazda’s pickup range.  Buyers now have more of many things –– more style, more comfort, more power, more torque, car-like comfort and practicality.  Measuring 5,075mm in overall length, the Mazda BT-50 has a 465mm-high cargo box and a rear suspension featuring double-acting shock absorbers, enabling a maximum payload of up to 1,212kg. 

 

The 2.5-litre 16-valve diesel engine produces maximum power of 143ps at 3500rpm with a huge torque output of 330Nm at just 1800rpm, clearly demonstrating its best-in-class towing capabilities.  

 

Mazda’s pickup is offered with a five-speed gearbox and two drivetrains –– a two-wheel drive only version and a 4x4 version that is ideal for rugged commercial use, or for more adventurous lifestyles off-road.  This last version delivers both the classic pickup rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive and features a larger transfer case that translates the higher torque of the new engine into improved traction.  All 4x4 models are equipped with a rear limited-slip differential (LSD).

 

The Mazda BT-50 line-up features four derivatives –– two Single Cab versions with a 2,280mm long cargo bed and a choice of two- or four-wheel drive, and a pair of four-wheel drive Double Cab models with a 1,530mm long cargo bed and a choice of TS or TS² equipment levels.
